Delhi Weather Update: The national capital experienced some relief from the cold on Tuesday compared to previous days. However, moderate to dense fog covered most parts of the city in the morning. Light rain or drizzle is forecast for January 23, along with winds of up to 20 kmph, which may once again lead to a drop in temperature. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is expected to be around 8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum may reach about 23 degrees. Visibility on roads is likely to be limited to 1 to 2 kilometres, especially during the early morning hours.

Delhi AQI

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality has improved over the last three days, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 397, placing it in the “very poor” category, down from the “severe” category when levels were above 400. Such poor air quality can cause health issues such as difficulty breathing, eye irritation, and sore throat.

Delhi recorded its most polluted January day in the past two years on Sunday, when the AQI plunged into the “severe” category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) daily bulletin, the city’s AQI stood at 440 at 4 pm on Sunday.

Rain In Delhi On January 23?

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of light to moderate rain in the capital from Friday, January 23. Due to the influence of a western disturbance, weather conditions are expected to change across Delhi and several parts of the NCR.

Rain accompanied by strong winds is likely during this period. Dense fog may also persist during morning hours over the next three to four days, which could affect traffic movement.

Delhi Forecast

From January 21 to 23, daytime temperatures are expected to range between 19 and 26 degree celsius, while minimum temperatures may hover around 6 to 11 degree celsius. Winds will generally be light to moderate, shifting from northwesterly to southeasterly directions, with speeds increasing at times up to 20-25 kmph. Skies will remain partly cloudy initially, turning generally cloudy by January 22-23. Shallow to moderate fog is likely during morning hours, and very light rain or drizzle may occur on January 23, accompanied by stronger surface winds reaching 20-30 kmph.

On January 24 and 25, temperatures are likely to stay between 19 and 21 degree celsius during the day, with minimums around 6 to 8 degree celsius. Winds will blow mainly from the east to southeast and later turn northerly, remaining light to moderate. The sky is expected to be generally cloudy on both days, with shallow to moderate fog persisting during the morning hours.
