A thick layer of fog has blanketed Delhi-NCT on Thursday morning, reducing visibility and affecting flight operations at the Delhi airport. According to the data from Flightradar24.com, at least 58 flights are delayed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
This includes 14 arrivals and 44 departures. In a latest update on weather conditions in Delhi, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast with a red alert for 'very dense fog' across Delhi for the upcoming few hours.
Delhi Airport warns of delays
Given the dense fog conditions, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has issued an advisory for the passengers. In its latest advisory, the DIAL has warned of potential delays due to operations being conducted under CAT III conditions.
In its advisory, Delhi Airport said, "Please be advised that due to dense fog, flights are operating under CAT III conditions, which may lead to delays."
"We are actively working with airlines and stakeholders to reduce disruptions. For the most accurate flight information, kindly check with your airline,", it added.

IndiGo issues advisory
Among the airlines, IndiGo has also issued an advisory for passengers stating, "Low visibility and fog over #Delhi and #Hindon (Airport) may impact flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly."
"We request that you stay updated on your flight status via our website or app. Please be assured that our teams are here to assist you at every step and provide full support," the airline advisory added.

Meanwhile, the weather in the national capital continues to shiver as the temperature dips below 3.6 degrees. Delhi's Lodhi Road area recorded a low temperature of 3.6 degrees, while Gurugram registered the temperature of 3.5 degrees.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for a cold wave across the capital region for Thursday (January 15).
