Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: DND To Mithapur Stretch To be Operational By June 2026; 94% Work Completed

The nine-kilometre stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway from DND to Mithapur will become operational by June 2026. Ramveer Singh Bidhuri stated that more than 94 per cent of the work has been completed. Nitin Gadkari provided a response on this matter in Parliament. The opening of this section will ease commuting for people in Delhi and the NCR, reduce traffic congestion, and also lower pollution levels. Entry and exit points have now been constructed at Mithapur Chowk.

The highly anticipated nine-kilometre stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, connecting the DND Flyway to Mithapur, is set to become operational by June 2026. Currently, over 94 per cent of the construction work on this section has been completed.

Official Confirmation In Parliament

The updated timeline was confirmed by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, in response to a question raised by South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri during the Parliament session on Friday.

MP Bidhuri noted that the project was originally scheduled for completion this year. However, it faced delays primarily due to the construction of a bridge over the Agra Canal. With the hurdles addressed, the project is now on track for the June 2026 deadline.

Benefits For Commuters

MP Bidhuri highlighted that the opening of this section will provide significant relief to the people of Delhi and the NCR.

Traffic and Pollution: The new route is expected to decongest existing roads, saving commuters time and subsequently lowering pollution levels in the capital.

South Delhi Connectivity: Entry and exit points have already been constructed at Mithapur Chowk, which will be particularly beneficial for South Delhi residents. Commuters travelling from DND to Mithapur will be able to bypass local traffic congestion entirely.

Completion Of The Delhi Leg

With the completion of this 9-km link, the construction of the entire Delhi portion of the expressway—being built at an approximate cost of Rs 1 lakh crore—will be finished.

Current Status of Connecting Sections:

Mithapur to Faridabad (Sector-65): The 24-kilometre stretch is already open.

Faridabad (Sector-65) to Sohna: The 26-kilometre section is operational.

Sohna to Dausa: This section was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2023.

The operationalisation of these sections has already provided relief to thousands of commuters across Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Palwal, while also making travel to Jaipur significantly easier.
