In a significant crackdown ahead of New Year celebrations, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested two brothers for trafficking high-value narcotics intended for supply across Delhi-NCR. The police seized a substantial quantity of drugs, including high-potency "OG" cannabis, often sourced from international coasts.

The Arrest And Seizure

The accused, identified as Ritanshu Gund and Ridham Gund, residents of Hari Nagar, were apprehended on December 17 from Tihar Jail Road, Janakpuri.

Recovered Contraband: The police seized 1.068 kg of Charas, 98 grams of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and 174 grams of 'OG' cannabis.

Vehicle Seized: The car used to transport the narcotics was also impounded.

New Year Demand: Police stated that the drugs were brought in to meet the high demand in Delhi-NCR for upcoming New Year's Eve parties.

What Is 'OG' Cannabis?

The seizure of 'OG' is particularly significant.

Origin: 'OG' refers to cannabis cultivated near the coast (Ocean Grown) in regions like Thailand, America and California.

Potency: It is known for having a very high THC content compared to standard cannabis. Consequently, the demand for Thai and coastal cannabis has been rising rapidly in India.

The Chase: When signalled to stop, the driver attempted to speed away to escape. However, the alert police team pursued the vehicle and successfully apprehended both brothers.

Profile Of The Accused

Both accused are educated young men who turned to crime for "easy money."

Ritanshu Gund: A graduate who previously assisted in his father's heavy vehicle spare parts business. He has a prior case registered against him at Hari Nagar police station.

Ridham Gund: Also a graduate and currently a second-year student at a college in Sohna, Haryana. Like his brother, he has a previous case registered in Hari Nagar and joined the trafficking ring to make quick money.
