An uproar over water has erupted in the Ghonda area of East Delhi after a Water Board pipeline broke in two places. Following the repair of the line, contaminated water has now heightened residents' concerns. Contaminated water is being supplied in several areas, including Brahmpuri, Kartar Nagar, and Gaonri. There was no water in the area for three days, and the water now being supplied is contaminated. It is mixed with soil.
Protests Against Delhi Jal Board
On Thursday, women in Brahmpuri registered their protest by holding buckets. The women took the Delhi Jal Board to task. Saroj Sharma, protesting in Brahmpuri, said that the Water Board must take the water issue seriously. Residents affected by the contaminated water state that the Water Board's pipelines are many years old.
Allegations Of Negligence And Missing Maps
It was alleged that Water Board officials are unaware of the depth of the pipeline. There are no maps. Had IGL possessed a map, the Water Board's line would not have broken three days ago. The water pipeline was broken in two places due to an error by IGL.

Health Risks And Daily Struggles
People are contracting infections from drinking the foul-smelling and contaminated water. People are still forced to buy drinking water from the market. People in Ashok Nagar are distressed by the problem of contaminated water. Residents allege the water is so foul-smelling it is undrinkable. Local resident Sunil Kumar said that water is supplied for two hours in the morning and evening. For the first hour, the water is foul-smelling and black. This has become a community-wide problem. People are falling ill from drinking this water, but it seems to have no effect on the Water Board officials.
Complaints And Official Response
Online complaints are also being lodged with the Water Board, yet no solution has been found. Ajay Mahawar, Chairman, North East District Development Committee, stated that it has been repaired. If there is a problem with contaminated water anywhere, residents should file a complaint with the Water Board. A solution will definitely be provided.
