NGT Closes Delhi Park Damage Case After DMRC, PWD Pay Environmental Fines

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has closed proceedings in a case concerning damage to a park wall and the felling of trees in Delhi. The NGT made this decision after various agencies deposited environmental compensation and the broken wall was repaired. The DMRC, PWD, and DDA have deposited the penalty amount and the DPCC has paid the compensation to the applicant.

NGT Closes Delhi Park Damage Case After DMRC, PWD Pay Environmental Fines
Action taken over illegal tree felling in park, environmental compensation deposited.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has closed a case concerning environmental damage in a Delhi park after confirming that corrective actions have been taken and fines have been paid.

The case was filed over a damaged park wall, illegal tree felling, and pollution from construction activities. The NGT noted that its previous orders have largely been followed.

Actions Taken And Fines Paid

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC): Paid Rs 300,000 in environmental compensation to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).

Public Works Department (PWD): Paid Rs 100,000 in environmental compensation. The NGT has directed this amount to be transferred from its Registrar to the DPCC.

Delhi Development Authority (DDA): Has committed to paying an outstanding fine of Rs 10,000 within one month.

Park Restoration: The broken wall has been rebuilt, and work on restoring the park and planting new trees is in progress.

Compensation To Applicant: The DPCC confirmed that it has paid Rs 50,000 to the person who filed the application.

Since the responsible agencies have taken significant steps to address the issues, the NGT concluded that no further action was necessary and disposed of the case.
