Delhi Metro: With the Republic Day celebrations just around the corner in 2026, heightened security measures are in effect across Delhi. To ensure the safety and smooth flow of the event, a range of measures, including road restrictions and adjustments to Delhi Metro services, have been implemented.
From 3:00 AM on January 23-25, certain entry and exit gates at key metro stations will be temporarily closed due to security protocols. The closures will remain in effect until the conclusion of the events.
The affected stations include Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate, and ITO.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the DMRC has advised passengers to plan their travel accordingly.
Republic Day 2026: Temporary Gate Closures at Selected Delhi Metro Stations
Due to the security arrangements for Republic Day 2026, entry and exit at the following metro stations will be temporarily restricted:
- Central Secretariat - Gate No. 03 & 04
- Udyog Bhawan - Gate No. 1
- Lal Quila - Gate No. 03 & 04
- Jama Masjid - Gate No. 03 & 04
- Delhi Gate - Gate No. 01, 04 & 05
- ITO - Gate No. 03, 04 & 06

For those planning to attend the Republic Day parade, this year marks the first time that metro tickets will be issued along with invitation letters, simplifying the travel process to and from the event. Furthermore, metro services on January 26 will start as early as 3:00 AM, ensuring people can reach Kartavya Path without any inconvenience.
