Hearing the baby's screams, family members arrived and admitted her to a trauma centre. Police have taken the accused into custody and are investigating the matter.

In a shocking act of brutality that has shaken the conscience of the city, a 10-month-old baby girl was raped by a neighbor on Saturday morning. The police have arrested the accused, who was reportedly heavily intoxicated at the time of the crime. The victim has been admitted to the city’s trauma centre, where her condition remains critical.

The Incident

The horrific incident occurred around 7:30 am on Saturday within the jurisdiction of the city police station. The victim's family, originally from Bihar, works as labourers and resides in a rented room in a local colony.

The Abduction: According to reports, the infant was playing outside her home while her parents were inside. The accused, a 35-year-old man who lived in a rented room in the same neighborhood, approached the child.

The Crime: Under the pretext of playing with her, the accused picked up the baby and took her to a room located on a nearby vacant plot. He then proceeded to rape the infant.

Discovery: The family members were alerted by the baby’s screaming. When they rushed to the vacant plot, they were horrified by the scene.

The Accused

The accused has been identified as a resident of Uttar Pradesh who was living on rent near the victim's house.

Prior Contact: Police revealed that the accused was known to the family and had previously visited their house to play with the child. On the day of the incident, he used this familiarity to lure the baby away.

Arrest: The accused fled the scene immediately after the family arrived. However, acting swiftly on information provided, the city police apprehended him. He is currently being interrogated.

State of Mind: Reports indicate that the accused was heavily intoxicated during the commission of the crime.

Medical Condition And Official Statement

The infant’s condition deteriorated rapidly following the assault, and she was rushed to the city's trauma centre, where a team of doctors is currently treating her.

Dr Ravindra Kumar, DSP (Headquarters), confirmed the details of the case:

"The incident occurred at 8 am. The accused is a resident of Uttar Pradesh and is around 35 years old. He lived on rent in the baby's neighbourhood. He had previously come to the house to play with her. This morning too, the accused came on the pretext of playing with her and took the baby away. The accused has been arrested and is being interrogated. A team of doctors is treating the baby."
