The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has moved the court regarding the election results of Ashok Vihar Ward-65, which was part of the 12-seat MCD by-elections. A hearing on the petition filed in the Rohini Court is now scheduled for December 24.
The Controversy Over Website Results
According to AAP, the Election Commission's website initially declared the AAP candidate as the winner. However, the result was later altered to show the BJP candidate as the victor. Conversely, the BJP has termed this move by AAP an insult to the public mandate.
AAP State Convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj stated that in the MCD by-elections held a few days ago, the AAP candidate had actually won in Ashok Vihar Ward-65. He claimed that the Election Commission's website and app had even updated the status showing the AAP candidate's victory. However, he alleged that due to some unknown irregularity, the result was subsequently removed from the website. The result was then changed to show AAP losing and the BJP candidate winning, prompting the party to challenge the election in court.

BJP Reaction
Responding to AAP's petition, BJP State President Virendra Sachdeva stated that challenging the BJP candidate's victory—achieved by a margin of 405 votes—in court proves once again that AAP leaders do not believe in the democratic mandate.
Sachdeva added that while the BJP considers the public's verdict supreme in a democracy, AAP sees dishonesty in every defeat. He noted that in the recently concluded municipal elections, the BJP lost the Naraina ward by a mere 148 votes and graciously accepted the mandate. In contrast, AAP suspects foul play in their 405-vote defeat in the Ashok Vihar ward and has approached the court.
