Sewer Overflow Issues In South Delhi
In fact, the population of several posh areas in South Delhi is struggling with the problem of sewer overflow. Due to sewer blockages, dirty water frequently flows onto the streets, which, besides causing a foul smell, also leads to residents facing a contaminated water supply. Tired of complaining to the relevant departments and public representatives, people have now launched a campaign on social media, raising questions for a solution by tagging the Chief Minister, Lieutenant Governor, District Officer, as well as the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Municipal Corporation.

Rakesh Dabas, former president of the Federation of RWA Saket, highlighted the crumbling infrastructure: "In Saket, the situation is dire in all blocks due to sewer problems. The lines laid five decades ago cannot bear the burden of the growing population. We have also written to the Jal Board, offering suggestions to resolve the issue. The problem of sewers and dirty water is a serious health concern for senior citizens. We are tired of constantly complaining without any resolution. That is why we have now launched a campaign on social media."
New Friends Colony: Blockages And Infrastructure Needs
From New Friends Co-operative House Building Society, Treasurer Arun Jaggi mentioned that there has been a sewer overflow problem in blocks A, B, C, and D for about six months. The Maharani Bagh line, which carries sewage to the STP in Kilokari, is completely blocked, causing constant sewer overflow. The RWA, Citizen Forum, and several other organisations have made dozens of complaints to the Jal Board, and the MP has written a letter to the Jal Board on this matter, but there has been no solution. The sewer lines laid 50 years ago need to be replaced. Now we are asking questions on X by tagging departments and public representatives.
East Of Kailash: Persistent Overflow Near ISKCON Temple
RWA member from East of Kailash Pawan Sharma said that for the last 10 years, there has been a sewer overflow problem on Raja Dhir Sen Marg, near the ISKCON temple. Apart from those going to the temple and school, local residents are forced to pass through that dirty water. People travelling to and from Garhi, Sant Nagar, Sriniwaspuri, and Greater Kailash, including blocks C, D, and G, pass through here. About 15,000 people from four societies are affected. A fine has been imposed by the corporation, the Water Minister and the MP have written letters to the CEO of the Jal Board and teams from the PWD and Jal Board have visited, but there has been no solution. We are now informing the departments about the problem, along with the news published in Dainik Jagran.
Official Response And Assurances
South Delhi MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri said that the problem of contaminated water and sewer overflow in these areas is known to us. To resolve these issues, I have written a letter to the CEO of the Delhi Jal Board and have also spoken with them. I have made them aware of the people's suffering. The department has given an assurance that a permanent solution to the problems will be provided soon.
