To ensure the safety of students and teaching staff, the district administration has announced school closures for August 7, 2026. All schools, colleges, and anganwadi centres will be closed today following the order. Furthermore, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has directed disaster management teams to remain on high alert and monitor the weather forecast closely.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the Dehradun region is experiencing light to moderate rainfall followed by thunderstorms. Under the orange alert, heavy rainfall activity may also occur across the district. In view of this, district authorities have issued cautions regarding potential minor landslides, rockfalls in vulnerable hilly terrains, and short-term waterlogging in low-lying areas. Residents and travelers are advised to stay vigilant with weather updates and exercise necessary precautions.
All Educational Institutions To Remain Closed Today
The Dehradun district authorities have ordered a holiday for August 7 across all government, private and aided schools from Classes 1 to 12, along with Anganwadi centres. Keeping students’ and staff safety as a priority, the authorities have taken this decision. All educational institutions have to strictly follow the holiday order without fail.
