MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026: Ahead of the NEET UG counselling process 2026, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has communicated to the state counselling authorities about the digital reforms for UG and PG medical admissions. From the current academic session, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has laid down several reforms for the NEET UG counselling process to ease the UG and PG admission process. The newly introduced measures will ensure greater transparency, thereby reducing paperwork and making the admission process easier. The counselling is expected to begin shortly. NEET-qualified candidates must read all these reforms carefully to avoid any confusion during the process.

No Physical Reporting To College
Under the revised measures, candidates who have been allotted seats and have opted for "upgrade" or "willing to upgrade" in subsequent rounds are not required to physically report to the allotted college only to complete their admission formalities. The allotted seat will remain preserved while you appear for the next round of counselling. This will reduce unnecessary travel and paperwork for candidates, allowing them to seek better options in the next counselling rounds.
Online Resignation Facility
As per the revised reforms, MCC has introduced an online registration facility for candidates to surrender their allotted seats under the counselling guidelines. With a specific deadline, candidates can submit their resignation requests through the MCC counselling portal. Candidates will no longer be required to visit the allotted college to submit their resignation physically. This facility will be available only according to the applicable rules and timelines announced for each counselling phase.
NRI Quota Applicants Can Upload Documents Digitally
Another major reform is for candidates registering under the NRI quota in deemed universities. Such candidates can upload all mandatory documents digitally through the MCC counseling portal instead of relying on the offline process.
Training Underway For MCC Reforms
To ensure seamless implementation of the new reforms, MCC has stated training and orientation sessions for the concerned authorities and stakeholders. For the State Directorate of Medical Education authorities, the training sessions were held in May and June 2026. A separate training session for medical institutions was scheduled on July 27, 2026, with additional sessions planned for government and private medical colleges.
