NEET UG 2024 Result: The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results for the NEET 2024 exams on June 4. In this exam, 67 students achieved All India Rank 1. This has raised concerns among many aspirants due to the limited seats in top colleges. Moreover, numerous students received either 719 or 718 marks out of 720. The discrepancy arose because marks are awarded on a +4 and -1 basis. However, the NTA clarified that grace marks were added to the scores.
Alakh Pandey, CEO of Physics Wallah, has voiced his concerns on this issue. In an Instagram video interview, he expressed, "Despite bringing full a score, many students will not be able to get into AIIMS Delhi. The exam pattern is weird, there are 69 students on 720 score and there is not much seats in AIIMS Delhi."
"For the first time students have scored 718 marks. This is not possible as the exam is based on +4 and -1 basis," he added.
In conclusion, he advocates for the need for additional seats in government medical colleges.
NEET UG Result 2024: State-Wise Performance
In terms of state-wise performance, Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of qualified candidates, with 1,65,047 students, followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, with 1,42,665, 1,21,240, and 89,426 students, respectively.
NEET UG Result 2024: Increase In Registration
NEET UG 2024 registrations witnessed a 16.85 percent increase this year. A total of 24,06,079 candidates registered for the exam, compared to 20.59 lakh applicants last year.
NEET-UG serves as the qualifying entrance examination for admission to various undergraduate medical courses, including Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), and BSc (H) Nursing programs. Across the country, there are more than 80,000 MBBS seats available in over 540 medical colleges.
