NEET UG Re-Exam 2026: Focused on strengthening preventive and corrective measures before the NEET UG exam, scheduled on June 21, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a high-level review meeting with central security and intelligence agencies. In the meeting, preparations were reviewed in detail to identify vulnerabilities in advance and ensure timely preventive and corrective measures.

In a parallel meeting with representatives from major social media platforms, including Meta, Google, and especially Telegram, the government raised concerns over the rapid spread of misinformation related to competitive exams.

Intelligence Agencies Flag Organized Activity

According to intelligence inputs discussed during the meeting, several suspicious Telegram channels appear to be operated through a limited set of phone numbers, indicating a coordinated and organized misinformation network.

Taking serious note of the issue, Dharmendra Pradhan directed authorities to launch a focused crackdown on such channels. This includes proactive identification, blocking, and takedown of groups spreading fake information and propaganda before examinations.

Government Reviews Security Measures for NEET-UG Re-Exam 2026

To ensure that the NEET UG re-exam goes on smoothly, the officials discussed strategies to avoid irregularities and strengthen vigilance at examination centres. Authorities were instructed to identify vulnerabilities in advance and implement preventive and corrective measures to avoid disruptions.

The minister emphasized that social media platforms must work in close coordination with the Ministry of Education, NTA, and law enforcement agencies to curb misinformation swiftly and protect the integrity of the examination system. He reiterated that safeguarding students from misleading narratives and maintaining public confidence in the examination process remains a top priority for the government.

NEET UG To Be Held In CBT Mode From Next Year

As part of corrective reforms following the controversy, the Education Minister had earlier announced that NEET-UG will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode from next year. 

After the paper leak allegations surfaced, the NEET UG exam scheduled on May 3 was cancelled by NTA on May 12. Now the exam is rescheduled for June 21, 2026. The exam, considered the country’s largest UG medical entrance exam, was held across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. Over 22 applicants took the exam across 5,400 centres. With the re-exam date approaching, the centre and NTA aim to ensure a fair, transparent, and secure examination environment for all candidates.
