Building on the success of this initiative, the ministry has officially announced plans for Special Campaign 6.0. Scheduled to run from October 2 to 31, 2026, the upcoming campaign will place special emphasis on advanced record management, office beautification, and the effective disposal of electronic waste.
Comprehensive Overview of Special Campaign 5.0
The Department of Higher Education (DoHE), operating under the Ministry of Education, achieved remarkable results during Special Campaign 5.0. By systematically reviewing 95.2 percent of its physical files (totaling 2,04,859 files) and 87.46 percent of its e-files (62,564 files), the department significantly curbed administrative pendency.
Furthermore, the initiative successfully covered approximately 1,159 sites nationwide, setting a high standard for efficiency and institutional accountability across central government bodies and autonomous organisations.
Resource Optimization and Space Recovery
A major highlight of the campaign was the remarkable physical transformation of government workspaces. Through aggressive weeding out and closing of 90,629 physical and electronic files alongside the digitization of over 3,312 files, the department freed up an impressive 14,44,839 square feet of office space. This reclaimed area was repurposed to improve the overall work environment. Additionally, the systematic disposal of outdated materials and scrap generated a notable revenue of Rs 6.89 crore for the government.
Focus Areas and E-Waste Management
Special Campaign 5.0 placed heavy emphasis on institutional cleanliness, commonly referred to as 'Swachhata', and efficient record management. The campaign tackled redundant paperwork and optimised digital transitions.
Building directly upon last year's successes in scientific resource handling, officials announced that the upcoming initiatives will heavily emphasise the effective collection, segregation, and disposal of electronic waste to address modern environmental challenges within public offices.
Preparation and Outlook for Special Campaign 6.0
Following the tremendous success of the previous drive, the Ministry of Education is fully geared up to roll out 'Special Campaign 6.0' from October 2 to 31, 2026. The upcoming campaign will unfold in two structured phases: a preliminary preparatory phase from September 15 to 30, 2026, followed by the rigorous implementation phase in October.
Officials will direct special attention toward comprehensive record management, reducing pending matters in central higher education institutions, and enhancing office beautification.
