Top IITs Choice by JEE Advanced Toppers 2026: The admission process for IITs is nearly complete. Meanwhile, the names of the IITs that emerged as the top choices for toppers this year have been revealed. Data released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) indicates that IIT Bombay was the primary choice for toppers.
Out of the students who secured the top 100 ranks nationwide, 68 enrolled at IIT Bombay, selecting it as their first preference. Apart from this, two other IITs were also highly favored by the toppers.
IIT Delhi And IIT Madras Also Preferred by Toppers:
After IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi was the second most preferred institute among toppers, while IIT Madras secured the third spot. Approximately 18 to 20 students from the top 100 rankers enrolled at IIT Delhi, whereas the number of toppers enrolling at IIT Madras is reported to be between 7 and 8. The remaining top rankers chose IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur as their first preferences.
Immense Craze For CSE Among Toppers:
As in previous years, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) saw the highest demand this year as well. All 68 top rankers who secured admission at IIT Bombay opted for this specific branch. Trends from previous years show a similar pattern, with top rankers consistently prioritizing the Computer Science branch. Factors driving this preference include the branch's excellent placement record, startup culture, and strong alumni network.
Top rankers admitted to IIT Delhi showed a strong preference for Computer Science and Mathematics & Computing, while data from IIT Madras reflects a similar trend. Despite the rapid changes occurring in the world of AI, a degree in Computer Science remains the top choice for Indian engineering students.
