UP Shiksha Mitra Remuneration Update: Good news has arrived for the Shiksha Mitras of Uttar Pradesh before Diwali. The government, led by CM Yogi Adityanath, has released a budget of Rs 460.23 crore to pay the increased honorarium.
This clears the path for 1,27,841 Shiksha Mitras in the state to receive the hiked honorarium for September and October. Significantly, the payment for both months could be credited to their bank accounts at once.
Honorarium Increased from Rs 10k to Rs 18k:
The state government had announced an increase in the Shiksha Mitras' honorarium from Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000 per month. Now, the budget has been released to cover the increased honorarium for September and October. It means eligible Shiksha Mitras could receive a total payment of up to Rs 36,000 for the two months-an increase of Rs 16,000 over the previous honorarium of Rs 20,000 for the same period.
Budget Dispatched To All UP's Districts:
As per the NDTV report, the budget released by the Education Department has been sent to all districts. Director General of School Education Monica Rani has instructed Basic Education Officers (BSAs) to expedite the payment process.
Officials have also been directed to ensure there is no negligence in transferring the funds to the accounts of Shiksha Mitras (para-teachers).
Other Employees May Also Receive a Diwali Gift:
Following the Shiksha Mitras, there are expectations that other UP government employees might also receive some relief before Diwali. Reports suggest that the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees could be increased.
Additionally, there is a possibility of employees receiving a bonus ranging from approximately Rs 3,000 to Rs 7,000. This move would bring relief to lakhs of state employees and pensioners.
Demand for Permanent Employment Persists:
Despite the hike in honorarium, the demand for permanent employment among Shiksha Mitras remains unfulfilled. They have long been advocating for regularization and fair benefits in teacher recruitment processes. They point out that while they have been teaching in government schools for years, they are not being granted permanent appointments or adequate opportunities in the special TET (Teacher Eligibility Test).
However, the High Court has refused to allow Shiksha Mitras to appear for the special TET. The Shiksha Mitras allege discrimination despite their years of service, stating that they are not receiving sufficient weightage or opportunities during the recruitment process. In light of this discontent, the Yogi government is continuing efforts to appease the Shiksha Mitras ahead of the upcoming UP state assembly election 202.
