Raipur University Paper Row: Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) has cancelled the B.Sc Agriculture first-year Plant Pathology examination conducted on August 7 after a police investigation confirmed that the question paper had been leaked. The university decided during an emergency meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Dr Girish Chandel. The Plant Pathology examination will now be re-conducted in the first week of September.
Police Probe Reveals Another Paper Leak:
The development comes after the B.Sc Agriculture second-year Entomology question paper was allegedly leaked on August 20. A professor and five students of a private agricultural college in Durg district were arrested in connection with the case.
During the investigation, police reportedly found that the first-year Plant Pathology paper had also been leaked, prompting the university to cancel the August 7 examination.
Re-Examinations Scheduled for September:
IGKV officials said both the Plant Pathology and Entomology examinations will be conducted again in the first week of September.
The university has also initiated action against the Durg-based college for allegedly failing to ensure the confidentiality of the examination process. Show-cause notices have been issued to observers appointed for both examinations.
IGKV Introduces Stricter Security Measures
Following the paper leak, the university has strengthened its examination security system. Question papers for subsequent B.Sc examinations are being sent to colleges through password-protected emails shortly before the examination begins.
IGKV is also planning to increase CCTV surveillance in examination departments and affiliated colleges and is considering the use of additional technology to prevent future paper leaks.
