Pune School Holiday: Very big and important news has emerged for the people of Pune. The Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026 international cycling competition is being organised in Pune between January 19th and 23rd. Due to this competition, significant changes have been made to the traffic system in Pune city. To prevent inconvenience to school students due to this competition, the administration has made an important decision. Schools, colleges, and universities located on Pune’s main roads will remain closed on Monday, January 19, 2026.
The decision has been taken due to large-scale traffic restrictions across the city. The international cycling event Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026 will begin with the Prologue Race on January 19, causing major roads to remain shut from 9 am to 6 pm.

Pune Grand Tour 2026: Which Areas Are Affected?
Educational institutions located on Fergusson College Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Jangli Maharaj Road and other connected routes will remain closed for the day due to restricted access.
The official order has been issued by Pune District Magistrate and District Disaster Management Authority Chairman Jitendra Dudi to avoid inconvenience and ensure public safety.
District Collector and District Magistrate Jitendra Dudi has issued orders to divert and close all types of traffic on alternative routes from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on January 20, 2026, during Stage One of the "Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026," organized by the Pune District Administration in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India.
Stage One of this competition covers a total distance of 53.8 km within the jurisdiction of Paud, Lonavala Rural, Kamshet, and Vadgaon police stations. To prevent any untoward incidents during the competition, orders have been issued to divert traffic to alternative routes. The details are as follows:
A cycle rally will be held in Pune city on January 19, 2026. On this occasion, traffic on Jangli Maharaj and Ferguson College Road will be closed for eight hours from 10 am to 6 pm. Meanwhile, schools in the city have been given a holiday, and Pune Police has appealed to offices to be given a holiday if possible, or to adopt the metro and other alternative routes.
