Punjab School Closed: Due to the increasing cold and fog in the state, schools in Punjab will remain closed till January 13. This will apply to all government, aided, recognised and private schools of the state. Earlier, schools were directed to remain closed till 7 January.

This information was shared on Twitter by Harjot Singh Bains, the Education Minister of Punjab. He explained in his tweet:

"As per the directions of the Honourable Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, keeping in mind the health and safety of children and staff due to the continuously increasing cold and fog in the state, all government, aided, recognised, and private schools in the state will remain closed until January 13th..."

 

According to the meteorological department, temperatures in Punjab dropped below 5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Bathinda was the coldest place in the state, recording a minimum temperature of 4.6 degrees Celsius.

Amritsar city recorded a minimum temperature of 7.5 degrees, Ludhiana 6.6 degrees, Patiala 7.1 degrees, while Gurdaspur recorded a minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius.
