In this situation, District Collector Satish has announced a holiday for schools only in Dharmapuri district today (October 23) due to heavy rains. In Bihar, Diwali holidays will start on October 18 and continue for several days. After Diwali, preparations for Chhath Puja will begin, during which schools will remain closed as well.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several Kerala districts, including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and others. Earlier red alerts for Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram were downgraded. As a precautionary measure, the Kerala government may announce a holiday for tomorrow due to heavy rainfall.

Though there is no official notification on whether schools and colleges will be closed in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, October 23, if the bad weather conditions prevail, the schools, educational institutions are likely to be closed tomorrow
