UPSC CSE Result 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to announce the Civil Services Preliminary Examination (CSE) Result 2026 anytime by June 15 on its official website, upsc.gov.in. Candidates who appeared for the examination conducted on May 24 will be able to check their qualifying status through the result PDF.

The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 was held in offline mode across 2,072 centres in 83 cities. More than 8.19 lakh candidates registered for the examination against 933 vacancies, while nearly 5.49 lakh aspirants appeared, resulting in an attendance rate of around 67 per cent.

Candidates can follow these steps to check the result:

  2. Click on the "UPSC CSE Prelims Result 2026" link.
  3. Open the PDF file.
  4. Search for the Roll Number or Application Number.
  5. Download and save the result PDF for future reference.

Candidates whose roll numbers appear in the merit list will qualify for the Civil Services Main Examination.

Key Details About UPSC CSE Prelims 2026

The Preliminary Examination comprised two papers, General Studies Paper I and CSAT Paper II. However, only GS Paper I is considered for merit ranking, while candidates are required to secure at least 33 per cent marks in CSAT Paper II to qualify.

UPSC had also introduced a major change this year by releasing the provisional answer key on May 28, just four days after the examination. The answer key indicated that one question from the 100-question GS Paper I had been dropped, and candidates would receive full marks for that question.

Experts estimate that around 11,200 to 12,100 candidates may qualify for the Mains examination, based on the usual practice of shortlisting candidates at 12 to 13 times the number of vacancies.

What After UPSC Prelims Result 2026?

Candidates qualifying the Preliminary Examination will have to submit the Detailed Application Form-I (DAF-I), which is mandatory for appearing in the Civil Services Main Examination. The form requires personal details, educational qualifications, optional subject preferences, and language paper choices.
