UK Government Syllabus Completion deadline: Teachers in government schools across Uttarakhand have received verbal directions from education officials to complete 30 per cent of the curriculum before the summer holidays. The instruction comes as authorities expect a reduction in effective teaching days due to teachers being assigned duties related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, Census work, and election preparations.
The new academic session will begin on April 1, and teachers have been asked to start syllabus coverage immediately to meet the target before summer vacations. Officials believe that multiple administrative responsibilities may significantly reduce classroom time, making early curriculum completion necessary to maintain academic progress.
Fewer Teaching Days Expected
Although schools are expected to conduct at least 222 teaching days annually, the actual number may fall below 150 days this year. Teachers are likely to be engaged in SIR verification work, upcoming Census activities, and preparations for Assembly elections, which are considered mandatory duties.

Textbooks Arrive Before Session Begins
In a positive development, free textbooks have started arriving before the new academic session, unlike previous years when they reached schools in July. Books for Classes 1 and 2 have already reached the Rajpura District Distribution Centre, ensuring students receive learning materials on time.
