Government School Infrastructure Upgradation: The Delhi government has launched Mission Kayakalp to modernise government schools by upgrading classrooms, improving sanitation, enhancing drinking water facilities, and strengthening infrastructure. The initiative aims to create safe, inspiring, and student-friendly learning spaces with support from government departments, CSR partners, and local communities.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Mission Kayakalp has been launched to transform government schools into modern, clean, and secure learning spaces. The initiative focuses on strengthening infrastructure while creating an environment that promotes quality education and holistic development.
The programme is being implemented with support from district administrations, the Education Department, CSR organisations, market associations, and local communities. Infrastructure improvements, including renovated classrooms, upgraded laboratories, clean drinking water facilities, repaired buildings, and better sanitation, are already underway in several schools across Delhi.
What Is Mission Kayakalp?
Mission Kayakalp is a flagship initiative of the Delhi government aimed at transforming government schools into safe, clean, modern, and inspiring educational institutions. Rather than serving only as centres for learning, schools are being redesigned to offer students a better overall educational experience.
The programme focuses on improving physical infrastructure, sanitation, classrooms, laboratories, drinking water facilities, libraries, and green spaces. The initiative also promotes community participation by involving CSR organisations, district administrations, market associations, and residents in school development.
Infrastructure Upgrades Underway Across Delhi Schools
The government has undertaken infrastructure improvement works in schools across multiple districts. Renovation of classrooms, physics laboratories, toilets, and drinking water facilities has already been completed in several schools.
Schools in Mehrauli, Roop Nagar, Janakpuri, Mohan Garden, Gokalpur, Shahdara, and Sawda Ghevra have received building repairs, waterproofing, weather-resistant paint, new water coolers, rainwater harvesting systems, upgraded libraries, and improved electrical and civil infrastructure.
Special Facilities for Students:
Several schools have introduced student-centric facilities under Mission Kayakalp. A sensory park for children with special needs has been renovated at the government school on Shankaracharya Marg.
In addition, modern physics laboratories, space labs, clean libraries, plantation drives, upgraded toilets, and safe drinking water systems have been developed to provide students with a healthier and more engaging learning environment.
Community Participation Driving the Initiative:
The Delhi government says Mission Kayakalp is being implemented through collaboration between the Education Department, district administrations, CSR partners, social organisations, market associations, and local communities. According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, public participation has accelerated infrastructure development and helped transform government schools into modern educational spaces across the capital.
