Zoho AI Tutor for Students: Zoho launched 'Classes 2.0' on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in 22 schedule indian languages. This is a new and improved version of its learning management system, which was originally launched during the COVID-19 pandemic. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is integrated into almost every aspect of the product, ranging from lesson planning and grading to subject-specific AI tutors for students.
Dev Anand Ramasamy, Vice President of Product Management at Zoho, who led the development of this product, explained that it is the result of nearly five years of sustained effort and dialogue with teachers. "I must have personally met at least 1,000 teachers during this time," he said.
He described how the product has evolved from a simple tool for collecting assignments during the pandemic into a comprehensive learning platform now utilized by state governments, universities, schools, and colleges.
What Is Zoho Classes 2.0?
Zoho Classes 2.0 is an overhauled version of the LMS the company first launched during the COVID pandemic, now rebuilt with AI woven into nearly every function, from lesson planning and grading to a dedicated AI tutor for students. CEO Mani Vembu said the platform is designed to adapt to diverse students and education systems, reflecting the belief that technology must be built around local needs.
Zoho Classes 2.0 Key Features:
-Subject-restricted AI tutor: Unlike an open-ended chatbot, the tutor only responds within a student's enrolled subjects
-AI course builder: Generates a complete course description, learning outcomes, and thumbnail, in under 30 seconds, in any of 22 Indian languages
-Duolingo-style micro-learning: Daily questions and streaks to boost engagement
-AI career counselling tool
-Automated lesson planning: Replaces manual, version-less Excel-based systems
-AI-assisted grading: For computer science assignments, with teacher review required before feedback reaches students
-Course-outcome mapping: Helps institutions generate accreditation data for bodies like AICTE

Impact on Teachers and Institutions
According to VP of Product Management Dev Anand Ramasamy, automated grading could save teachers roughly 150 hours of manual work per semester, freeing time for classroom engagement. He emphasized that AI-generated feedback isn't sent directly to students; teachers must review and edit it first.
On accuracy, Zoho said it reduces hallucination risk through narrow, context-specific prompting that restricts AI responses to a student's specific course and semester, adding that no complaints of factual errors have been received so far.
