Varanasi Lok Sabha election 2024 live voting news:  A total of 54.58 per cent voting was recorded across the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on Saturday.

Varanasi Lok Sabha election 2024 live voting news:  Amid the voting in Varanasi for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, several voters alleged that the Congress party EVM button was hidden by tape. The complainants said that the same was witnessed across Booth No. 189, 90, 91, 92 at the Primary School of Pahari Village in Rohania Assembly Constituency.

Varanasi Lok Sabha election 2024 live voting news:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP's candidate for the Varanasi Lok Sabha Seat, has completed his 45-hour long meditation at Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari.

Varanasi recorded 39.25 per cent voter turnout in Lok Sabha election 2024 till 1 pm 

Varanasi constituency recorded a 26.13 percent voter turnout by 11 am. Other constituencies in Uttar Pradesh recorded the following turnout: Ballia at 27.81 percent, Bansgaon at 28.30 percent, Chandauli at 29.08 percent, Deoria at 28.10 percent, Ghazipur at 27.55 percent, Ghosi at 27.67 percent, Gorakhpur at 26.64 percent, Kushi Nagar at 28.06 percent, Maharajganj at 29.54 percent, Mirzapur at 29.54 percent, Robertsganj at 28.09 percent, and Salempur at 27.94 percent.

Reports indicate a malfunctioning EVM at booth number 123 in the Varanasi North Legislative Assembly constituency. 

"By choosing to go to the South instead of meditating on the banks of the Ganga River, I believe PM Modi has insulted Kashi. He should have stayed in Kashi," said Ajay Rai (@kashikirai), the Congress candidate from Varanasi, UP, after casting his vote.

In response to the scorching heat, the district administration has set up shade, drinking water, coolers, fans, and lemon water at polling centers. Special arrangements are in place at model booths. The health department is on alert to provide immediate assistance if needed.

The Meteorological Center Lucknow has issued a weather alert for polling day, predicting continued heat and heat waves. Varanasi's temperature on June 1 is expected to range from 43 to 45 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 28 to 30 degrees. The sky will be mostly clear, with possible heat waves from midday to afternoon and warm nights in some areas.

Uttar Pradesh Congress chief and Varanasi seat candidate Ajay Rai stated,"The difference in my puja is that I am the son of Kashi, I pray at the temple in Kashi...Kashi stands on the trident of Baba Vishwanath...Whatever I have to pray for, I will pray here...This is the time to stand with the people in their joys and sorrows. Public representative means to stand with people..."

Ajay Rai, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief and Varanasi seat candidate, offered prayers at Shri Bada Ganesh Mandir in Varanasi.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cast his vote at a polling booth in Gorakhnath, Gorakhpur. In the Gorakhpur electoral race, BJP's Ravi Kishan, a renowned film actor, is competing against SP's Kajal Nishad and BSP's Javed Ashraf.

Prime Minister Modi tweets,"Today is the final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. As 57 seats across 8 states and UTs go to the polls, calling upon the voters to turnout in large numbers and vote."

Before filing his nomination papers on May 14, PM Modi held a roadshow and addressed a Nari Shakti conference in Varanasi but did not conduct any campaign rallies in the constituency. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Union Ministers and other UP government members, campaigned in Varanasi to support PM Modi.

Prime Minister Modi, aiming for a third term in Varanasi constituency, won decisively in 2019 and 2014. previously in 2019, PM Modi won the seat by a massive margin of over 4,75,000 votes. Results for the Lok Sabha election 2024 will be announced on June 4.

The prominent candidates in the fray include PM Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Syyed Niyaz Ali of the Bahujan Samaj Party, and Ajay Rai of the Samajwadi Party.
