For those wanting to know the matter in depth, the documentary is a must watch. The web series features heartbreaking interviews of the family members of the victims, also an aviation journalist, JEFF WISE, who termed it a 'mystery whose malevolence is still with us today.' Wise who went on an investigation spree after the incident, explained the possibility that the captain of the flight, Zaharie Ahmad Shah, hijacked the plane.
Jeff stated that Shah might have thought of an excuse to get his co-pilot out of the cockpit and then locked the door after breaking off communication with Kuala Lumpur air traffic controllers but before making contact with Vietnam. Wise said, "He turns the plane to the south and he flies straight into the darkness, waiting for his fuel to run out. After six hours of flight, the engines stop running, he pushes the nose down, and he starts to slide into a dive."
The final report stated that Shah was innocent. "More than anything, we want to pull the hidden truths about MH370 out from the carpet under which they've been swept, and remind people that this is still a story with no ending, a mystery that hasn't been solved, that somebody out there knows more than the world has been told," said producer of the docuseries, Harry Hewland.
Here is what happened to the plane, as explained in the documentary:
12:41 am- Carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members, MH370 departs Kuala Lumpur International Airport for Beijing.
1:07 am- The data reporting system on the aircraft turns off.
1:21 am- The location and altitude-transmitting transponder turns off.
2:40 a.m- The plane's final signal was picked up by radar when it entered Vietnamese airspace above the province of Cau Mau.
6:30 am- MH370 doesn't arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport in scheduled time.
MH370: THEORIES EXPLAINED:
According to interviews recorded in the docuseries, Journalist Jeff Wise stated that there is a possibility of a Russian passenger taking control of the plane, while Journalist Florence de Changy asserted that MH370 may have been contacted by a U.S. surveillance aircraft. "It’s public knowledge that China was very eager to acquire highly sensitive US technology in the field of surveillance, stealth, drone technology," said Changy.
Another theory, as explained by Jeff earlier, stated that there is a possibility that the captain of the flight, Zaharie Ahmad Shah, hijacked the plane, though it failed later.
MH370 FINAL REVIEW:
Because there is so little information regarding the tragedy over ten years after it occurred, it's possible that discussing MH370 will always end up in conspiracy theories. A different strategy, possibly one that would have protected Netflix against a slander claim, would have been good to see the OTT platform explore.
