New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The trailer of Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan-starrer ‘Love Aaj Kal’ released on Friday and surely it has impressed the audience well. Netizens have gone crazy about the trailer and started comparing the new with the old film of the same name starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Giselli Monteiro. With the praises, hilarious trolls have also surfaced on the social media mocking the trailer of the film.
This might be the first instance when a daughter is doing a remake of her father’s film with the same director, Imtiyaz Ali, who had directed the previous version also and apparently -- after seeing the trailer -- in the same story, but with modernisation. After the trailer released, Sara Ali Khan’s father Saif Ali Khan opened up about his reaction after seeing the trailer for the first time and which one he liked more between his Love Aaj Kal and Sara’s Love Aaj Kal. Take a look at the trailer...
Speaking to Zoom, Saif began by saying "I still remember shooting for Love Aaj Kal" and then confessed that "I kind of liked my trailer more. So... uh... what to say. But I wish them all the best."
In a separate interview to Indian Express, Saif Ali Khan was asked if the movie’s trailer made him nostalgic and reminded him of his Love Aaj Kal days, he said, "Not really because I somehow feel our film is not some ancient kind of movie. Sara has my best wishes at all times, and for everything, she's my daughter. Bless them all and I wish them all the best."
Speaking about the new Love Aaj Kal earlier, Saif in an interview with Hindustan Times said that the franchise is not his legacy, "I don't think Love Aaj Kal is my legacy at all... I don't think of it as Sara taking the franchise forward. That's an interesting thought, which I hadn't thought before. I think if anything, it's Imtiaz's franchise and his legacy that perhaps he is taking forward, I was just a part of it."
Sara and Kartik’s Love Aaj Kal also features Arushi Sharma, the third main character of the film. She will be seen in an entirely different love story, one that is set in 1990, while Sara and Kartik will be romancing each other in a complicated relationship in their 2020 love story. Love Aaj Kal is scheduled to be released in theatres on February 14 this year.
