71st National Film Awards 2025 Highlights: Shah Rukh Khan-Vikrant Massey Win Best Actor Award; Malayalam Star Mohanlal Bags Dadasaheb Phalke Award

71st National Film Awards 2025 Highlights: India celebrated the 71st National Film Awards today, honouring the best artistic and technical work in cinema across the country. The winners were announced on 1st August, but the ceremony itself, delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The event began at 4 pm at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, with President Droupadi Murmu presenting the awards.
This year’s awards highlighted achievements across a wide range of films and talent. Shah Rukh Khan won Best Actor for Jawan, while Vikrant Massey also receiveed Best Actor for 12th Fail. Rani Mukerji took home Best Actress for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. Meanwhile, 12th Fail movie was also named Best Feature Film, while Kathal won Best Hindi Feature Film. Regional cinema also shined, with The Ray of Hope (Kannada), Bhagavanth Kesari (Telugu), Vaash (Gujarati) and Parking (Tamil) all recognised.
In music, Shilpa Rao won Best Female Playback Singer for Chaleya from Jawan, and PVNS Rohit won Best Male Playback Singer for Baby. The Kerala Story took Best Cinematography and Best Director for Sudipto Sen. Karan Johar and Mohanlal were also honoured for their lifetime contribution to Indian cinema.
