Chitrangda Singh recently starred in Akshay Kumar-led Housefull 5. The actor has now addressed criticism that the movie objectified women in the name of comedy. She even used Dhurandhar's example to explain why she felt that viewers of movies like Housefull 5 get a little 'judgmental.' She claimed that while successful films with physical humour are generally accepted, criticism usually only arises when a movie fails to land.
Chitrangda Singh stated in an interview with News18 that actors frequently have little control over how sequences are performed and pointed out that the Housefull franchise has consistently used a certain kind of humor. While acknowledging that physical humor involving women might occasionally be uncomfortable, she emphasized that the execution of such humor is a major factor in its evaluation.
Chitrangda Singh used the example of Dhurandhar, a movie that was criticized for its use of violence."Sometimes when a film like Dhurandhar comes, some people may only look at it as a film with violent scenes, but that’s the storytelling. In the same way, you have certain kinds of comedy films, and that’s their storytelling. This is how a physical comedy is played out, and this is how a director wants to show it."
"I don’t judge it. It’s up to the audience and their discretion to watch or not watch or agree or not agree with it. But do I as an actor, feel comfortable watching something like that? Maybe not. I would prefer if certain scenes could have been done in a different way. But sometimes, I won’t say moralistic, but we get slightly over-judgmental. But you got to take it in the right vein and give it certain cinematic allowance."

Housefull 5 follows several imposters who pose as the son of a recently deceased millionaire as they vie for his wealth on an opulent cruise ship. Despite having a stated budget of Rs 240 crore, the movie only made Rs 288.58 crore at the global box office. Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, and Soundarya Sharma were among the cast members of the whodunit, which was directed by Tarun Mansukhani.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar is still doing well and has now made over Rs 1000 crore at the box office. Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt play important parts in this spy action thriller, which is directed by Aditya Dhar.
