Alia Bhatt’s upcoming action thriller Alpha has been postponed for the second time, creating fresh buzz around the highly anticipated project. Directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by Aditya Chopra, the film holds special significance as Yash Raj Films’ first female-led venture in its ambitious spy universe. However, Alpha has been postponed and the announcement was officially made on Saturday.

Film critic Taran Adarsh took to X and wrote, "ALPHA AVOIDS CLASH WITH BATTLE OF GALWAN. YRF TO DECIDE ON NEW DATE. Aditya Chopra steps aside for Salman Khan, moving Alpha from its earlier announced release date of 17 April 2026 to avoid a direct clash with Battle Of Galwan. YRF had locked 17 April 2026 for Alpha, but the makers will now announce a new release date after assessing the theatrical release calendar over the next couple of months."

This is not the first setback Alpha has encountered on its release journey. The film was originally slated to arrive in theatres on December 25, a date that was earlier confirmed by Alia Bhatt during her appearance on the sidelines of Milan Fashion Week. However, the makers later decided to push the release, citing the need for additional time to refine and enhance the visual effects. The delay was aimed at ensuring that the film meets high technical standards and delivers a more polished and visually striking experience for audiences.

Addressing the postponement, a Yash Raj Films spokesperson emphasised the studio’s commitment to quality, stating that Alpha is an exceptionally important project for them. "We want to present the film in its most cinematic form," the spokesperson said, adding that the VFX work would require more time than initially anticipated. Stressing their intent to spare no effort, the statement underlined YRF’s goal of transforming Alpha into a memorable theatrical experience that audiences can truly cherish.

Meanwhile, Battle of Galwan, the film whose release influenced Alpha’s latest postponement, is rooted in real events. The war drama draws inspiration from the 2020 India-China clash that occurred during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, adding a layer of historical significance and emotional weight to the project.
