Jaya Bachchan’s Nickname for Amitabh Bachchan: Amitabh Bachchan recently revealed that his wife, Jaya Bachchan, had a cute nickname, ‘Lambu Ji ’, for her. He also revealed that his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, did not like it and asked Jaya to stop. During the Diwali special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18, Ranbir Kapoor began discussing the height differences in his family. Ranbir spoke about how he imagined the height dynamics with his wife, Alia Bhatt. 

The actor said that he imagined himself and Alia like the younger version of the Bachchans in photographs, with him taller than Alia.

When Ranbir asked about their actual height difference, Amitabh Bachchan said: "Oho sir, bahut zyada difference hai.” Amitabh then revealed that he is 6 feet 2 inches tall and estimated Jaya’s height to be around 5 feet 3 inches. 

The discussion reminded Amitabh of the nickname his wife used during their early years together. “Kayi saal tak woh humko Lambu Ji bola karti thi," Amitabh recalled. 

Amitabh also said that because of his father, Jaya stopped calling him by the nickname.  He said Harivansh Rai Bachchan told Jaya, "Ye dekho, aise mat bolo, ya toh naam bolo ya kuch aur bolo."

Jaya Bachchan Revealed A Different Reason For Stopping Using The Nickname

In a 2012 interview with Filmfare, Jaya revealed that she stopped calling her husband ‘Lambu Ji’ after their daughter Shweta began imitating her.

"I used to call him Lambuji till Shweta started calling him by that name too. I realised it was time to stop," she said.
