Border 2 Movie Release And Review Live Updates: Will Sunny Deol Starrer Beat Dhurandhar And Chhaava’s Opening Day Box Office Collection?

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, "Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE will not be releasing Border 2. By now, it's a given that films perceived as having anti-Pakistan content don’t get a release in this belt." The overseas distributors confirmed that the ban in the six countries may result in a significant financial setback.

Border Box Office Collection: According to reports in Sacnilk, Border 2 has already earned over Rs 2 crore from the morning shows. As per early estimates at 11 AM, the movie minted Rs 2.67 crore. Reports suggest that Border 2 might open with Rs 35–40 crore, surpassing Dhurandhar Day 1 collection (Rs 28 crore) and is also expected to beat Chhaava's opening day collection (Rs 31 crore)

After days of anticipation and speculation around the Dhurandhar 2 teaser release date, director Aditya Dhar has finally confirmed that it will not be released with Sunny Deol's Border 2. On January 23, 2026, Aditya Dhar took to Instagram stories to share an important update regarding the release date of the Dhurandhar 2 teaser. He reshared a story of a fan who candidly ordered the director to release the teaser. It read, “@adityadharfilms mazak nhi teaser jaldi!”, to this, Aditya replied, “Teaser will be out in a few days.”

On Friday, January 23, 2026, Sunny Deol took to Instagram to share BTS video from Border 2 sets featuring the other cast and crew members. The caption of the post read, "#Border2 Day Today!!! No worries, no stress. Kick back, relax and let’s all enjoy #Border2 together"

A user on X shared clips from the movie hall were fans can be heard chantting 'Jai Shree Ram' and applauding the performance of Sunny Deol. The tweet read, "#SunnyDeol crossed #border again. Approximately 4,09,117 tickets were sold before the first show even aired, generating a domestic advance total of £1.2 million (Rs 12.5 crore). Trade analysts are optimistic, predicting an opening day collection between Rs 32 crore and Rs 35 crore, bolstered by the Republic Day holiday weekend.

Ahan Shetty returns after a four-year absence to play Lt. Cdr. M. S. Rawat from INS Khukri, highlighting the Navy's vital role in the conflict. Ahan's casting creates a significant generational link his father Suniel Shetty was a part of the first Border.

Border 2 Real Story: Border 2 will reportedly share little-known tales of real-life heroes during the 1971 Indo-Pak Operation Chengiz. The Pakistani Air Force's (PAF) preemptive strikes on the Indian Air Force's (IAF) advanced airbases and radar systems on the evening of December 3, 1971, were code-named Operation Chengiz Khan. It signaled the official start of the Indo-Pakistani War.

Nidhi Dutta, the producer of Border 2, came forward to clarify the reason behind not casting Tabu opposite Sunny Deol in the movie. Tabu portrayed the role of Major Kuldeep Singh's (Sunny Deol) wife in the original movie. Nidhi Dutta told IANS, "Sunny Deol is not playing Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri in the film. You must have understood from all the assets from the film that Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri, who he played in the first film, is a different character. So obviously, the wife will also be different." In Border 2 actress Mona Singh plays the role of Suinny Deol's wife.

Varun Dhawan faced criticism since the release of the song Ghar Kab Aaoge from Border 2. Some social media users started making fun of his performance in the song, focusing on his smile and facial expressions in particular. Varun Dhawan was questioned directly about the 'noise' surrounding his participation in Border 2 in a video posted by a fan on X (previously Twitter). In an open response, he stated that he thinks it's important to ignore other distractions and allow his work do the talking. 

Border 2 Advance Booking: According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film's opening day advance booking stands at Rs 3.43 crore, with the figure expected to climb higher as DOLBY CINE shows open up over the next two days. Border 2 is also outpacing recent hits like Dhurandhar, indicating strong interest in the film.

Border 2 First Review Out: A post on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the censor screening has set a sombre yet powerful mood for the film. The user highlighted a specific sequence that is expected to be the emotional anchor of the movie. The tweet read,  “The scene where people wept in the censor screening of #Border2 was when Sunny Deol's character performed the last rites of his martyred son in the movie. High on emotions that will make any father cry. Even though Army families are emotionally strong, they're humans after all.” 

Varun Dhawan took to Instagram and penned down a heartfelt note a day before the release of his much-anticipated movie, Border 2. He wrote, "A battle #border2, A film that really pushed me to my limits. An experience which so many people helped me get through. It changed me for good. Injuries, personal life changes and submitting to the craft." He further wrote, "Can’t wait for everyone to watch this film tomorrow. Putting one of my favourite background pieces from the film."

Unlike the first film, which focused primarily on the infantry, Border 2 aims to honour the unparalleled bravery of the Army, Navy, and Air Force together. Ahan Shetty portrays a dedicated naval officer. Diljit Dosanjh steps into the cockpit as an Air Force officer. Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan lead the charge as members of the armed forces.
