BTS wrapped up 2025 and rang in the New Year with fans through a full-group surprise Weverse livestream on December 31, 2025. Watching Jin, Suga, Jhope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook live once again made for a memorable moment; fans declared 2026 to be the 'BTS Year'. ARMY especially enjoyed the members teasing and joking with one another, with Jin and Jungkook's playful fight grabbing all the attention and leaving fans excited for their comeback. After the OT7 live, ARMYs woke up to the much-awaited official announcement of BTS comeback date on January 1, 2026, as BIGHIT MUSIC kicked off the New Year 2026 following widespread social media buzz sparked by viral handwritten letters.
All seven members assembled at RM's new house to ring in the New Year together with the ARMYs during the Weverse live. BTS members brought their signature chaotic energy back to the livestream- giggling, dropping hints about their comeback and jumping on and from Kim Namjoon's sofa, being all messy and creating a lively atmosphere.
During the live, some members got up from he couch to switch spots before wishing fans a Happy New Year. Jin showed off his playful antics by sneaking up behind Jungkook and lifting him up and over his back. Jungkook lands at an awkward angle on his head and neck before righting himself. This playful fight left fellow bandmates laughing.
Looking back on the past year, BTS shared their hopes for the future, saying, “We hope to make a safe comeback this year and that the album does well. Let’s make BTS a huge success.”
BTS Comeback Date Announced
On January 1, BIGHIT MUSIC announced via a press release that BTS will make their much-awaited return with a new album on March 20. According to a Soompi report, this marks the BTS' first full-group album release in over three years, following their anthology album Proof, which was released in June 2022.
Before the official confirmation from the BTS agency, the comeback date was first hinted at through handwritten letters the members sent to their fandom in Korea. To welcome the New Year and express gratitude for the love and support they have received since their debut in 2013. BTS personally wrote letters that were delivered to the homes of fans who have maintained their Weverse membership.
Alongside heartfelt wishes, BTS teased their return by writing the date '2026.03.20,' along with a new logo. The letter quickly spread across social media, sparking excitement among fans for BTS comeback.
