Vikram Bhatt Fraud Case: The Rajasthan Police detained Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari from Mumbai on December 7, and brought them to Udaipur late on December 8 in relation to a purported fraud case involving proceedings worth more than Rs 30 crore. The following day, they appeared in an Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court and were placed under seven days of police custody. In this case, the renowned filmmaker, his spouse, and six other individuals were charged for defrauding Dr. Ajay Murdia.
Vikram Bhatt and his wife's attorney asked for temporary bail on medical grounds. They were, nevertheless, put in judicial custody by the judge. Advocate Manzoor Hussain told news agency ANI that the judge denied the defense's plea for interim bail, citing medical concerns.

What Is The Case Against Vikram Bhatt And His Wife?
In April 2024, the accused was introduced to Dr. Ajay Murdia, the founder of Indira IVF Hospital, by an acquaintance who proposed to make a film on his late wife, according to PTI. Authorities claimed that the doctor and the Bhatts inked a deal worth Rs 47 crore to produce four films, including the former's wife's biopic in May 2024. The first two movies were supposedly produced after the contract, but the latter two were never produced, confirmed police.
"Murdia, owner of Indira IVF Hospital, wanted to make a biopic on his late wife. He has alleged that he was promised earnings of ₹200 crore. But nothing materialised, after which Murdia approached Bhopalpura police station in Udaipur, where an FIR was registered for cheating and other offences," an official told PTI.
The doctor was allegedly defrauded of crores of rupees by the accused, who created fake bills in the names of fake vendors, exaggerated wage vouchers, and other documents. They were able to embezzle about Rs 30 crore from the doctor, according to police.
