Is Sparsh Shrivastava Moving Away From Rural Roles After Laapataa Ladies, Dupahiya? Exclusive

Sparsh Shrivastava has often been seen in stories rooted in smaller towns and rural India. From Jamtara to Laapataa Ladies and Dupahiya, his characters have largely belonged to such settings. However, Kunal Kemmu's Vibe gave him a chance to explore a more urban space.

The shift is not something Sparsh says he planned. In fact, he had spoken about exploring urban scripts back in 2024 while also making it clear that he did not want to completely move away from rural characters. 

Now, speaking exclusively to The Daily Jagran, Sparsh explained that Vibe came to him at the right time. He said he was not looking at the film as a way to change his identity as an actor.

He said, "You know, when I signed up for Vibe, at that point of time, I was not really thinking of switching my identity as actor that I want to do some urban stuff. But it just landed in my hand. And I really wanted to do something different as actor."

For Sparsh, the opportunity was more about trying something new than consciously breaking away from the kind of roles he had done before. He said the film offered him a different space and that itself made him want to be a part of it.

"And Vibe was a perfect place for me to be. So I think that's how I choose Vibe. And obviously, the makers are on the script and the fun too and the joy to be in the film - That's what intrigued me," he shared.

While his recent work has included several characters from rural settings, the 27-year old actor said he is not looking at urban roles as a permanent change in his career.

"But I don't have a hard and fast mindset that I want to switch my identity. and I will not go back and do the rural kind of spaces."

In his latest conversation, he summed up his approach by saying, "I think I root for stories. I root for characters and the excitement."

Vibe, therefore, marks a different space for Sparsh Shrivastava, but not necessarily a complete departure from his earlier work. The actor appears keen to explore both sides as long as the story and character excite him.

In Vibe, he explored an urban character Bugs, who is one of the two recruited by Madam H, to save the nation. The movie directed by Kunal Kemmu also stars Preity Zinta and Vanshika Dhir.
