The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati began with a heartfelt tribute to veteran actor Dharmendra, honouring his legacy and his final film, Ikkis. Amitabh Bachchan led the segment, reminiscing about their long association and emotionally reflecting on Dharmendra’s immense contribution to Indian cinema and the lasting impact he had on those around him.
Talking about Ikkis, Big B said, "Film Ikkis is the last precious memento for us, which was left behind for millions of people. An artist wants to practice art till the last breath of his life, and this is exactly what my friend, my family, my idol, Mr. Dharmendra Deol did. Mr. Dharam was not just a person. He was feeling, and a feeling never lets you go. It becomes a memory, a blessing that keeps you going."
Director Sriram Raghavan, who collaborated with Dharmendra on Ikkis, reflected warmly on the experience, saying he felt truly blessed to work with the legendary actor in what would be Dharmendra’s final film. He added that the role showcased Dharmendra’s strengths beautifully and highlighted just how exceptional he was at his craft.
Amitabh Bachchan also recalled an incident from Sholay set. He shared that they were shooting in Bangalore and described the actor as someone with a strong, almost wrestler-like physical presence. He added that during the death scene, the agony seen on screen felt authentic because the actor held him so tightly that the physical pain naturally translated into a powerful performance.
About Ikkis: Ikkis is an upcoming Hindi war biographical film based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee, who was martyred at the age of 21 during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film stars Agastya Nanda as Khetarpal and features Dharmendra in his final on-screen role, and centres on the Battle of Basantar. The film is scheduled for release on January 1, 2026.
