BTS fans, known as ARMY, have another reason to celebrate this week. Beyond celebrating Suga’s 33rd birthday, the rapper has gone viral for his thoughtful and respectful comments regarding Ramadan. During a surprise livestream on the fan platform Weverse, Suga (Min Yoongi) took a moment to chat with fans. As he read through comments, he noticed many Muslim fans mentioning they were observing Ramadan.

Instead of moving past them, Suga showed genuine curiosity and respect. He noted that he was also having his first meal of the day late, saying, “There are those observing Ramadan and fasting. My understanding is that you can eat once the sun sets during Ramadan, is that wrong? I also have my first meal after sundown.” This simple acknowledgment moved millions of fans globally. Many took to social media to call him 'Brother Yoongi,' appreciating that he took the time to understand and validate their faith.

Times BTS Members Supported Muslim Fans

This isn't the first time the global superstars have shown respect for Islam and their Muslim followers. The group has a long history of being inclusive. During past trips and variety shows like Bon Voyage, the members have been seen specifically looking for Halal food options to be mindful of local cultures and fans. When performing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2019, the group modified some of their more suggestive dance moves out of respect for the local culture.

Additionally, in 2023, the group’s leader, RM, addressed a controversy regarding a song he shared. He stood firm in his respect for all faiths, stating, “There was no intention or purpose to insult a religion. I respect every belief and religion.”

Do BTS Members Have Any Religion?

While the members are very respectful of all religions, they have generally described themselves as non-religious. RM has previously identified as an atheist but often speaks about spirituality and the force of the universe. Suga has mentioned in past letters that he does not have a religion but often prays for the strength to stay grounded as a human being. Jungkook and V attended schools with religious foundations but have both clarified in live broadcasts that they do not currently practice a specific religion.

What’s Next For BTS?

The timing of Suga’s livestream is perfect for fans, as anticipation is building for the group’s massive comeback. Their new album, ARIRANG, is set to drop on March 20, 2026. This will be followed by a global livestream event on Netflix on March 21, marking their first full-group performance in nearly four years.
