Mahakali First Glimpse Out: The makers of Mahakali, RKD Studios and showrunner Prasanth Varma, have officially unveiled the long-awaited first glimpse of their upcoming historical epic.
Titled #Shukracharya’sWarCry, the extended video teaser sets the stage for a mythical battle between Dharma and Adharma while officially locking the film’s worldwide theatrical release for January 8, 2027.
Directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru, Mahakali marks the next chapter in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) following the blockbusting success of Hanu-Man.
Akshaye Khanna’s Shukracharya Look Gets Reactions Online
The main highlight of the 2-minute-55-second teaser is actor Akshaye Khanna, who makes his Telugu cinema debut in a fierce and completely unrecognisable avatar as Shukracharya, the formidable guru of the Asuras. Sporting a long silver-white beard, matted topknot hair, intense eyes, and traditional tilak markings, Khanna commands the screen with immense gravitas.
Social media platforms have blown up with high praise for Akshaye Khanna’s menacing look and intense screen presence. Netizens have widely commended his ability to shift from dark realistic roles to grand mythological figures effortlessly.
Akshaye Khanna's Role In Mahakali
The narrative of the glimpse draws inspiration from the mythological tale of Samudra Manthan (the churning of the cosmic ocean). It explores how the Asuras were denied the divine nectar of immortality and banished to the netherworld, setting up Shukracharya’s vengeful declaration of war against the forces of good.
