The Delhi High Court took up actor Rajpal Yadav’s bail plea again at 2:30 PM on Thursday. During the hearing, Yadav’s counsel informed the bench that he had been unable to establish contact with his client. He added that a formal bail application had been filed and requested the court to seek a response from the complainant. The counsel further submitted that the matter could be adjourned to Monday, assuring the court that he would present a more detailed submission by then.
Taking note of the request, the court adjourned the hearing to Monday and directed the complainant to file a reply to the bail application. While reviewing the case file, the bench observed that several aspects had earlier gone unnoticed. The court pointed out that the first order in the matter had already been challenged before the Supreme Court, which had declined to grant any relief.
"When I was going through the file, there were so many things we didn’t even know. They have challenged the first order before the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court did not grant them any relief. Anyway, we will take it up on Monday," the court remarked, according to a report in The Indian Express.
Earlier in the day, during the hearing of the bail application at around 1 PM, Justice Swarana Sharma noted inconsistencies in the submissions made by Rajpal Yadav’s counsel. In the initial submission, it was stated that the amount in question would be paid directly to the complainant, a claim that Yadav himself confirmed before the court. However, in a subsequent statement, the counsel said that the money would instead be deposited with the court, prompting the judge to flag the contradictory stance.
