Sara Arjun is currently enjoying the success of her latest blockbuster hits, Dhurandhar Part 1 and Part 2. The movie has become the highest-grossing film of 2025 and 2026. Directed by Aditya Dhar Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal in key roles. Now latest reports suggest that the 20-year-old actress has been roped in to play the lead role in Madhubala's biopic.
According to a report in Variety India, Sara Arjun will play Madhubala in the biopic, and the film will be directed by Jasmeet K. Reen, best celebrated for her work in the Netflix movie Darlings featuring Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt.
Madhubala Biopic Heading Straight To OTT?
The report furthermore stated that the movie will skip a theatrical release and will be released straight to an OTT platform. Additionally, a report suggests that the movie is set to go on floors in July 2026. The filmmakers are also looking for two male leads for the portrayal of Dilip Kumar and Kishore Kumar. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, earlier other reports suggested Kalyani Priyadarshan, Sharvari, Aneet Padda and Kiara Advani were being speculated to headline Madhubala's role. With Sanjay Leela Bhansali backing the film, fans' expectations are reaching fever pitch.
Sara Arjun's Upcoming Projects
Sara Arjun rose to fame in the film industry after playing Vikram's daughter in the 2011 Tamil movie Deiva Thirumagal. Over time, she made appearances in Saivam, Saand Ki Aankh, and Ek Thi Daayan. Sara Arjun also portrayed a schoolgirl in the 2014 movie Jai Ho, which starred Salman Khan.
After Dhurandhar's success reports have emerged that Sara Arjun has been cast in many movies as lead actress. One of them is Imtiaz Ali's Heer Ranja. The movie serves as a second chapter to Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri starrer Laila Majnu. Additionally, actor Rohit Saraf is reportedly being considered for the male lead in the movie.
