Dhurandhar Star Ashwin Dhar Aka Arshad Pappu Reacts To 'Agenda' Backlash; Credits Strong Script For Box Office Success | EXCLUSIVE

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Jagran, Dhurandhar actor Ashwin Dhar, who has been earning praise for his portrayal of Arshad Pappu, opened up about the film’s massive box office success, the ongoing chatter around controversy, and how the industry is responding to his performance. 

Addressing whether controversies help films gain more visibility today, Ashwin Dhar maintained a grounded stance, steering the conversation back to the audience’s genuine response. “Yeah, I can’t say, I can’t judge this query you’re asking me. But one thing is for sure that the film has been liked by people,” he said.

Ashwin Dhar further added, “People are loving the film, people are going to, people are watching film once, twice, thrice, multiple times they’re watching the film. That means, you know, it has somehow, done something with the audience’s mind so that, they are liking the film. That is it.”

For Ashwin Dhar aka Arshad Pappu, the success formula is simple and rooted in storytelling rather than noise. “You know, the film works only when it’s a good film, when it’s a good script and people like only that, not about controversies. And controversies, I don’t know about controversies. We don’t think about controversies,” he explained.

Emphasising his focus as an actor, he added, “We are actors, we do our job, people like it, they love it, we love it and we like it. That’s all.”

Meanwhile, the impact of Dhurandhar has clearly extended beyond the box office, opening new doors for the actor. When asked about industry response and future opportunities, Ashwin Dhar shared, “Oh yes, oh yes. It has helped me a lot. The industry has taken notice of this and there are a lot of things happening in my life. In terms of work and people are, you know, thinking of me casting and, you know, being antagonist roles and I’m very interesting characters."

While he remained tight-lipped about specifics, he hinted at exciting developments ahead, “And yeah, I’m getting a few things which as they materialise will come in open.”

Dhurandhar The Revenge has successfully crossed Rs 1300 crore mark at the box office in just 28 days. The spy-thriller's India gross collection according to Sacnilk stands at Rs 1316.45 crore. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in lead roles.
