Despite facing backlash, Ahan Shetty and Varun Dhawan have portrayed their roles with great sincerity and been receiving much-deserved love for their hard work. Recently, Suniel Shetty, who was an integral part of the original Border, came forward to defend Varun Dhawan against nepotism claims. He also hailed the actor for admiring Ahan and further slammed the phenomenon behind the word nepotism.

Suniel Shetty, ahead of his son Ahan Shetty's Border 2 release, shared how every father wants the absolute best for his kids and slammed ‘nepotism’. He also mentioned the importance of making the best out of opportunities and shared a great personal example. In a conversation with Peeping Moon, he said, "I don’t like the word nepotism. There’s no such thing as nepotism. Mere bete ko log nepo kid kahenge, lekin har baap yahi chahta hai ki uska baccha achha kare aur aage badhe. Somewhere down the line, it’s a way of life. It’s how generations continue. I got the opportunity to run a restaurant because my father used to run one. When you are privileged, you do get opportunities, but it depends on individuals how they make use of them."

Suniel further talked about Ahan's role in the movie and hailed his co-stars Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan. He also shared how Sunny Deol takes care of Ahan like his own child. Hera Pheri actor added, "Diljit and Ahan are very close today, and he absolutely loves him. Varun khud ke role ke baare mein kam aur Ahan ke role ke baare mein zyada baat karta hai (Varun talks more about Ahan's role than his own role)."

The actor continued to laud Varun and stated, "That says a lot about so-called nepo kids. Everyone thinks nepotism means spoiled kids, but that's not true. Today, it's Varun who is speaking so highly about Ahan everywhere."
