Bollywood actor Vijay Varma, who starred in Gully Boy and Darlings, among other movies, talked about his early struggles on the casting couch. When the actor tried modelling for a short time in Hyderabad, he had an awkward interaction with a modelling coordinator.
Speaking to Prakhar Gupta on his YouTube channel, Vijay Varma revealed that he was made to feel uneasy.
He said, "I tried modelling in Hyderabad, just small-time, amateur-level work. But I came across this weird model coordinator. He started to misbehave with me a little bit, like just trying to get a little touchy-feely."
Vijay Varma added, "I said, 'Bro, what is this? What are you doing?' So I got discouraged immediately. You get discouraged very quickly when you’re still inexperienced. Then I thought, I think I should address it head-on. If acting is what I want to do, then I have to do it."

Vijay Varma claimed that although the encounter shook him, he thereafter made the decision to take acting seriously. He claimed that the path ahead was still challenging even then.
The actor remembered being rejected by the Sutradhar School of Acting in Hyderabad because the faculty members didn't think he would continue with it and didn't want to give him a chance.
After that, Vijay applied to the esteemed Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), but he was also turned down. Only on his second try did he get accepted into the school, where he studied acting alongside actolike Jaideep Ahlawat and Rajkummar Rao.
