Yamla Pagla Deewana Re-Release: The makers of the popular 2011 comedy-drama Yamla Pagla Deewana are reportedly planning to bring the film back to cinemas as a heartfelt tribute to legendary actor Dharmendra. The film, which starred Dharmendra alongside his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, remains one of the most loved family entertainers of the past decade. Meanwhile, veteran actor Dharmendra passed away on November 24 at the age of 89, leaving the Indian film industry and his fans deeply saddened. Known fondly as the ‘He-Man of Bollywood’ , Dharmendra enjoyed a career that spanned decades and connected with audiences across generations. More than a month after his demise, reports suggest that Yamla Pagla Deewana will be re-released to honour his legacy.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the decision to re-release the film is meant to celebrate Dharmendra’s immense contribution to Indian cinema. The report stated, “The re-release of Yamla Pagla Deewana will serve as a tribute to the man who was unanimously loved and who left an indelible mark in the world of cinema. The film seems apt for a re-run as it’s not very old, still looks fresh and entertaining and also stars Dharmendra along with his two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.” The report also mentions that the original plan for the re-release has been altered. The source revealed, “Earlier, the plan was to re-release Yamla Pagla Deewana this Friday, December 19. But due to the Dhurandhar wave, NH Studioz, which holds the rights to the film, has decided to change the plan. Yamla Pagla Deewana is now expected to arrive in cinemas on January 1, 2026. A final decision will be taken in a few days from now.” The makers appear to be waiting for the right window to ensure the tribute receives the attention it deserves.

Directed by Samir Karnik, Yamla Pagla Deewana takes its title from the iconic song Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana from the 1975 film Pratigya, which also starred Dharmendra. A remixed version of the song featured in the 2011 film and became widely popular. The story follows an Indian man living in Canada who travels to Banaras in search of his estranged father and brother. The trio then journey to Punjab, where a chain of humorous events unfolds as they attempt to help the younger brother win the heart of the woman he loves while dealing with her eccentric family.

Dharmendra’s Final Film
