Bridgerton Spinoff: The world of Bridgerton is growing again, and this time the focus is on the family's beloved matriarch, Violet. Netflix has announced a spinoff on her early life and her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, the man she later marries and raises a family with.

The limited series was announced while Bridgerton Season 5 is being filmed in London.

 

 

Who Is Lady Violet?

Ruth Gemmell plays Violet in the main series. She is known for her warmth, wisdom and devotion to her eight children. Edmund, played by Rupert Evans, is the father of the eight Bridgerton siblings.

What To Expect From The Bridgerton Spinoff?

The spinoff will follow a young Lady Violet and her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.

The original series mainly focuses on the love lives of the Bridgerton siblings. This new show will go back to the love story of their parents. It will give fans a look at the romance that came before Violet became the family's matriarch.

The young Violet series will be the second major spinoff from the Bridgerton universe. The first was Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which explored the relationship between Queen Charlotte and King George III and their past. Like that series, Violet's spinoff will go back to an earlier time and tell a romance linked to the wider Bridgerton world.

Bridgerton creator Shonda Rhimes will co-write the series, serve as showrunner and executive-produce it with Nicholas Nardini. Rhimes has played a key role in shaping the franchise, and she has explored Violet's personal life in the main series. She also created Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the franchise's first spinoff, which went on to win an Emmy.

The announcement comes while filming for Bridgerton Season 5 is underway in London. The new season will focus on Francesca Bridgerton, the family's quiet third daughter, and her romance with Michaela, a bold heiress.
