'Stranger Things' was one heck of a series released by Netflix which instantly gained a large fandom, taking over the internet and world in the blink of one's eye. The superhit sci-thriller arrived in 2016 making your summer merrier, where the final and fifth seasons of the series will soon be releasing.
The creators of the show Matt and Ross Duffer announced the arrival of season 5 in 2022, where the two are preparing for the final season. According to a report in Elle magazine, the duo wrote, "Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but—as you'll soon see for yourselves—we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last."
The wait for the final chapter is already making the fans of the series restless. The release date of the new season is not out yet but the earliest one can expect is around 2024. However, looking at the past seasons, it took almost two years for the makers to release the last two parts, however, the delay and change of dates due to the Covid-19 pandemic also stood to be a major reason.
Talking about the spoilers and expectations from the script of the fifth installment, the Duffer Brothers released a letter to their fans last year where they promised to make the show bigger and better.
In the letter, they wrote, "There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes." Might that mean a spin-off in the future? "But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension called the Upside Down. As always, we are gracious for your patience and your support."
The coming back of the vicious villain Vecna is definitely in the books, where Jamie Campbell Bower said, "Vecna isn't necessarily gone for good. I don't think he's slunk off licking his wounds in misery. He's rebuilding, and he's out for blood."
The fifth season might have eight episodes where the makers tweeted a picture of a whiteboard with separate eight columns marked with numbers ranging from 1-8 respectively. Though the fifth season will mark the finale, the makers are already planning to collaborate and expand the franchise where a new live-action spin-off series will also be released in the coming years.
Talking about the cast, the leading team including Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Keery, Priah Ferguson, and Winona Ryder will revive their roles.
A new member will be added to the cast where 'Terminator' and 'Transformer' fame actress Linda Hamilton will join the cast of the series, where recently at Netflix's Tudum event in Brazil, the team 'Stranger Things' made this official announcement.
'Stranger Things' premiered on July 15, 2016, for the first time and swayed away fans with its great storytelling and plotline and instantly became a favorite of many. The plot of the series revolves around a small fictional town of Vecna set in the 1980's which then unfolds many secrets and strange events after the disappearance of a child.
