South sensation Nani must be going through a plethora of emotions right now: anxiety, excitement, nervousness. The actor, who has established himself as a bankable star in Tollywood, is all set to venture into the pan-India market with his upcoming release, Dasara.

Nani isn’t the first Tollywood actor to be foraying into the Hindi film industry. His predecessors, including the likes of Prabhas, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and NTR Jr, have already emerged as the top stars in the country owing to the blockbuster success of their films.

With Dasara, the hopes of Nani and his fans are sky high. Will the film help him establish him as the next pan-India superstar?

Who Is Nani?

Born Ghanta Naveen Babu, the 39-year-old actor began his career wanting to be a director. But destiny took its turns and he started working on film scripts and productions. He then worked briefly as an RJ, before landing a role in Ashta Chamma in 2008. Interestingly, the actor opted for his nickname, Nani to be his screen name as well.

Nani’s Career Breakthrough

Nani made his big Telugu debut with Ala Modalaindi, which released in 2011. The film was declared a blockbuster and established Nani as an emerging superstar. After a string of semi-hits, the actor rose to fame post the success of SS Rajamouli’s Telugu fantasy film, Eega. Over the years, Nani delivered 8 consecutive successes at the box office, picking up challenging and experimental roles that helped establish him as one of the most bankable stars in Tollywood.

Why Is Nani Called A ‘Natural Star’?

In recent years, Nani’s fans have started calling him ‘Natural Star’. Due to his believable and relatable film choices and honest performances, the actor gained popularity amongst the audiences.

Why Is Dasara Crucial For Nani?

With back to back promotions across the country, Nani is leaving no stone unturned to deliver a blockbuster hit with Dasara. The actor has been struggling at the box-office and hasn’t delivered any film crossing the Rs 30 crore mark throughout his career. With the theatrical rights of Dasara sold for over Rs 30 crore, the producers have expectations set high on the pan-Indian appeal of the action-thriller film.

Nani hopes Dasara to be his career’s next milestone. The film has been set on a big budget of over reportedly Rs 65 crore and is a first for the actor. Dasara is expected to be the biggest opener of Nani’s career and has shows starting as early as 5 AM.

Is Dasara, Pushpa-lite?

Social media spotted uncanny resemblances of Nani’s Dasara to Allu Arjun’s Pushpa. The premise, theme, character appearances and even the background score are giving major deja vu vibes to Pushpa lovers, who are eagerly waiting for a part 2 of Allu Arjun’s blockbuster. But the question will only be answered once the film hits the theatres.

Directed by debutant filmmaker Srikanth Odela, Dasara stars Nani and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles and will be released worldwide on March 30, 2023 in languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
