The Sabarmati Report, a gripping drama shedding light on the 2002 Godhra incident, continues to make waves nationwide. Recognized for its impactful storytelling, the film has received immense love from both critics and audiences, leading several state governments to declare it tax-free.
After being made tax-free in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Haryana; Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh have joined the list. The announcement in Gujarat came from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who emphasized the film's importance in understanding a crucial chapter in the state’s history. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also declared the film tax-free after a special screening in Lucknow.
On November 21, CM Yogi Adityanath watched The Sabarmati Report in a private screening alongside Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, and other dignitaries. Lead actor Vikrant Massey and the film’s team were present during the screening.
The Chief Minister lauded the movie for unveiling the truth behind the Godhra incident and called it an essential watch for every Indian. He stated that the film exposes conspiracies aimed at creating societal animosity and political instability. "It is a bold attempt to bring hidden truths to light," he remarked.
Earlier, Vikrant Massey, who plays the lead role in the film, met both CM Yogi Adityanath and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav. During these meetings, Massey expressed gratitude for their support in making the film accessible to more people by exempting it from state taxes.
