Around 10,000 families living in residential societies and colonies in the Sohna area are set to receive long-awaited relief, as the Haryana Public Health Department and the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) have finalised both short-term and long-term plans to provide a regular water supply through pipelines.
According to officials, completed residential societies in Sohna will begin receiving pipeline water within the next six months, ending years of dependence on water tankers and excessive groundwater extraction.
Under the Sohna Development Plan of the Town and Country Planning Department, licences have been issued to over 50 residential societies and colonies. Of these, 12 major societies, including Central Park Flower Valley, Signature Global Park, Godrej Nature Plus, Eldeco Accolade and HCBS Sports Ville, are fully occupied and home to nearly 10,000 families.
The Public Health Department has proposed an expenditure of Rs 18 crore for the short-term plan and Rs 268 crore for the long-term project. Under the immediate arrangement, an additional 8.73 MLD of surplus water from the Ghamroj Water Treatment Plant will be supplied to these societies through a dedicated pipeline.
Officials said the regular water supply will significantly reduce reliance on tankers and help curb the over-extraction of groundwater in the region.
